Oscars

Also, my favorite part of the oscars was this...

I wish anne would have stayed in that tux all night, it was so darn cute.

Galliano Suspension

read about it here

John Galliano is my favorite current fashion designer.  He was recently suspended from the House of Dior for making anti-semitic  comments to a couple in a paris bar.  After he was arrested, stories of him making more anti-semitic statements came out of the woodwork.  I do think he has a drinking problem, but I do not think he meant to insult all of those people.  "Hopefully he will get the help he needs so he can get back to work" is what my logical side is thinking, "Artists are supposed to be tragic and troubled, let him be" is what my "artistic" side is saying.  I would be devastated if anything happened to him, the fashion world cannot afford to lose another great designer.

Cheers

While painting our rec room today I popped in a season of Cheers to silence the silence. My favorite episode EVER is from season eight titled Two Girls For Every Boyd where the men have a beard growing contest. What could be better than a young Ted Danson? A young bearded Ted Danson! It is quite great.

Frasier, Norm and Sam have thick lush beards but Cliff's is quite frightening in the beginning of the episode. He scares the shit out of Rebecca and it is Hi-Larious!

Who Knew?

That Kevin Spacey had such a lovely voice, good lord.

My best dressed of the evening were Cate Blanchett, Mila Kunis and James Franco in that lovely pink number. Hahaha, he must have been high as a kite, he was so funny. I adore him.

I was overall very pleased with the winnings but it was a close call for Best Supporting Actor on my end. I really enjoyed both Geoffrey Rush and Christian Bale. And everyone that was watching the awards with me decided while the montage for Best Motion Picture was being shown that The King's Speech would probably win. And just as whatshisface was announcing the nominees my knee hits the damn remote and the picture is gone. I try every button and we switch the t.v. and converter box on and off in a flustered mess. My friend announces shes going home and grabs her jacket. But after what feels like minutes I try a few other buttons and the picture comes back and the whole cast of The King's Speech is standing on stage thanking whomever. Wahn Wahn.

Sunny Sillies

Did you know.....
That hippopotamus milk is pink?
That women's hearts beat faster than men's hearts?
That Albert Einstein had a hard time remembering his telephone number?
That Alexander Graham Bell's wife was deaf?

Well, now you do.

Layers of Things

It is zero degrees here and that means I will wear two pairs of tights and a pair knee high of socks with my mini skirt. Just because it is literally freezing doesn't mean you have to wear pants however I have had a hankering to throw on a pair since it has been so long. Being warm and adorable go side by side. Don't second guess those ear muffs or a silly hat, wear it loud and wear it proud! These are my reptile mitts that I wear when I need a boost to my day or when I am feeling especially silly. Plus they are great conversation starters!

My Life In A Nutshell

“My life in a nutshell” has always been a phrase stuck in the back of my mind. I am not sure where it came from and what it means but I love it dearly. I do often find myself in a nutshell of silliness. Strange things happen to me probably because I am strange. There is always that one person in the family that is a little bit weird compared to the rest of the crew; well in my case my whole family is that “one person” we are indeed a family made up of weirdoes. We each have our own little quirks that work together to form a very eccentric gathering of souls.

Recently after I explained my little shell-life to a friend, she said she imagined me like Thumbelina sleeping in a walnut. This seems like a really lovely idea sleeping in a walnut; unfortunately it will probably never happen for me. But imagine flower petal skirts, bark sleeves and a fresh palette of creams and lavenders to create a sweet little collection of spring time. I am so incredibly overwhelmed and happy about mauve and cream and a little khaki here and there in the weeks to come.

Friday Fashion

Today, I was inspired by this image.  At work I'm supposed to be conceptualizing a "Bird" costume.  I am not a very metaphorical, abstract person but the design is from that perspective.  I didn't even think about using fringe in place of feathers until i saw this...It seems to give the same whimsy, bird-like effect, no?  (could you imagine a world with fringe birds? instead of birds, we shall call them... flappers!)   This project has definitely made me space out more than usual, but It's nice to get out of my comfort zone every so often.
